Ingredients of Puliyogare Recipe

  • 2 cups Rice , cooked
  • Sesame Oil
  • 2 teaspoons tamarind paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Jaggery
  • 1/4 cup Raw Peanuts
  • Salt
  • Water
  • 2 tablespoons Chana dal 
  • Dry Red Chilli
  • 3 teaspoons Methi Seeds 
  • 1 teaspoon Whole Black Peppercorns
  • For the seasoning 
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard seeds 
  • Dry Red Chilli
  • 1 tablespoon Chana dal 
  • 1/2 teaspoon Asafoetida 
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder 
  • Curry leaves
  • 5 tablespoon Sesame Oil

How to Make Puliyogare Recipe

  1. Soak the tamarind in water for at least one hour and extract the juice.
  2. Take all the ingredients masalas Roast until it turns golden brown.
  3. Cool them completely and grind to a fine powder.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds, red chillies and allow it to crackle.
  5. Add the tamarind extract, turmeric powder, salt, curry leaves and asafoetida.
  6. Add enough water to make it thin and boil for 20 minutes.
  7. Once the volume has reduced to half, add the jaggery and the ground spice powder.
  8. Boil again for 5 minutes.
  9. Turn off the heat and cool the pulikachal.
  10. Add the roasted peanuts.
  11. Now you can now mix the pulikachal with steamed rice in small quantities depending upon how tangy and how spicy you want the rice to be.
  12. The Puliyogare is now ready to be served.
