March is National Nutrition Month, and this year’s theme “Food Connects Us” has us thinking about all the phenomenal ways seafood brings people together. From family fish fries to neighborhood potlucks, there’s something wonderful about sitting down to a spread of nourishing food with people we care about.  

If you think about it, some of your favorite family memories probably involve food—maybe that specific recipe your grandmother used to make or how your dad always pulled out the grill on summer Sundays. These moments are more than just food—they are opportunities to spend time and create memories through meals.

Take the simple act of cooking seafood together. When you video-call your sibling to master your mom’s secret shrimp scampi or teach your teenager to steam their first batch of mussels, these kitchen moments create memories that transcend beyond the meal. Sharing your cultural seafood traditions—whether New England clambakes or Southern shrimp and grits—opens windows into heritage and identity, inviting others to understand better through the universal language of food.
