Matar Paneer


Some human beings name matar as Muttar,mutar,Mattar, All are identical. So, this recipe may be called Matar Paneer or Muttar paneer or Mattar Paneer. Green Peas is English call of matar, and paneer is Indian cottage cheese or cheese organized from solids extracted from fat.

  • 100 gram Paneer
  • 1-1 cup Matar/Green Peas
  • 1 Medium Onion
  • 1/2 cup Tomato paste or puree
  • 1 Clove
  • 1 Black cardamom
  • 1 inch stick Cinnamon
  • 2-2 tbsp Oil
  • Salt to flavor
  • 1 tsp purple chili powder/ Deggi mirch Powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp ginger sliced.
  • 1 tbsp clean cream
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp coriander leaves for garnishing(optional)
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • Crushed fenugreek leaves /Kasoori methi 1 tsp


  1. Wash paneer and reduce in 1-inch cubes. On flat pan warmness 2 tbsp of oil and location paneer cubes on it, toss and Shallow fry paneer from all sides (do now no longer overcook) and take it out on absorbent paper to cast off all extra oil from it.
  2. Peel and wash the onion, reduce it portions and mix it in blender to make paste or grate it with grater. In a deep pan warmness 2 tbsp of oil upload clove, cardamom, cinnamon stick and roast it a bit. Add cumin seeds and allow it cracker for few seconds, upload onion paste until it alternate its colour and go away oil round onion paste.
  3. Add coriander powder, chili powder, turmeric powder for few seconds. Add tomato paste or purée and allow it prepare dinner dinner for 2-three mins so tomato paste will properly, and combination go away corners, displaying it’s cooked properly.
