Fada ni khichdi is a healthy and easy one-pot recipe made with daliya, moong dal, dry spices, and vegetables. It is one of the popular Gujarati khichdi known for its nutrition, taste, and simplicity.

Ingredients of Fada Ni Khichdi

  • ½ cup daliya / broken wheat
  • ¼ cup moong dal
  • water for soaking
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp cumin 
  • pinch hing 
  • 1 dried red chilli
  • few curry leaves
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ¾ tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 1 carrot
  • ½ potato
  • 2 tbsp peas
  • 1 tomato
  • ½ tsp ginger paste
  • 3 cup water
  • 2 tbsp coriander

How To Make Fada Ni Khichdi

  • Take daliya and moong dal in a bowl.
  • Soak in water for 10 minutes.
  • Take ghee and put mustard, cumin, pinch hing, dried red chilli and few curry leaves in cooker.
  • Drain off the water from soaked daliya-moong dal and add to tempering.
  • Add turmeric, chilli powder, garam masala and salt.
  • Saute for a minute, add chopped carrot, potato, peas, chopped tomato and ginger paste.
  • Add 3 cup water and pressure cook for 3 whistels.
  • Once the pressure settles down add 2 tbsp coriander.
  • finally, enjoy fada ni khichdi with raita.
