The 2024 SEGKBF Kayak Bass Fishing Championship recently concluded on beautiful Lake Blackshear in Cordele, Georgia.

The SEGKBF Georgia Tour Kayak Series consists of four to five local tournaments throughout the year on prominent southeast Georgia waters.  This past year’s locations included Lake Tobesofkee in Macon, Clarks Hill Lake in Augusta, and Lake Sinclair in Milledgeville.

Anglers who accrued Angler of the Year points participated in the kayak bass fishing championship tournament.

Lake Blackshear

The 2024 SEGKBF Georgia Tour Kayak Series Championship was held on beautiful Lake Blackshear.  Lake Blackshear is a man-made lake on the Flint River located in Cordele, Georgia.  The lake is nestled in the middle of Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park.  The lake borders numerous Georgia counties and is approximately 8,700 acres.

Overall Lake Conditions

Anglers dropped lines at 6:30 a.m., with five competing for the title of champion!   Temperatures registered at a cool 56 degrees, and by the end of the tournament, a warm but comfortable 82 degrees.  Water temperatures ranged in the high 60’s which made it perfect for fall kayak bass fishing!

First Place Winner

The first-place winner, Jason Starley from Milledgeville, Georgia, caught an impressive 82.25″. Jason also took the Big Bass honors. His big bass measured 18” long!

Second Place Winner

JC Sanchez from South Carolina reeled in 42.”

Third Place Winner

John Wilson from Gray, Georgia finished the field coming in third place with 12”.

Johnny Sanchez from South Carolina, as well as the tournament director, Daniel Woodcock also participated.
